Eygenveldbos is a centuries-old grove on the valley of the Pevesrstraet and/or Zibbeek. It must be one of the earliest cultivated fields in Sint-Martens-Bodegem. Natuurpunt reports that until 100 years ago it was a comfortable wood forest. A commodious forest or commodious wood forest is a small forest where in former times the coppice that was used in and around the house was taken from. Convenience means to use here. Comfortable groves were often used by farmers. For example, ash wood was used for tool stems, birch wood for brooms and willow wood for the stove. A ditch protected the woods from the gluttony of the cattle.
