Resting place Bulskampveld Lodi

This resting place is located in Hertsberge in the Lodistraat, close to the entrance of the 'Loca Labora' condiments. There is a small parking lot. From here walks can start through the Bulskampveld.

The Bulskampveld contains a playground, castle with visitor center, bat cellar, herb garden, sanctuary for wild animals, brasserie, farm products (including farm ice) at Colpaert farm, ...

But you can mainly walk there.

This is where the Bulskampveld landscape park begins, the most wooded area in all of West Flanders. It is no less than 90 km² in size and therefore the ideal destination for a day of relaxing in the green! There are miles of cycling and hiking trails to explore in this vast area, which stretches across the municipalities of Oostkamp, Beernem, Ruiselede, Wingene and Aalter. The Bulskampveld hiking network alone offers you more than 225 km of hiking pleasure.

But this is also the area of the Beernem murders: a few murders took place between 1915 and 1944, to which some unexplained disappearances or unexpected deaths were linked. It was suspected that there was a connection, which caused commotion in the area for several decades. The murders formed the basis for the VRT television series 'De Bos van Vlaanderen' from 1991.

There is also a film from 2016: 'The De Zutter case'.

One of the murders was this one on Hector De Zutter. There is a cycle route named after him that passes close by.
