Rommelaar was located outside the village of Rillaar on the 'other side' of the Konijnberg. In the Middle Ages, the inhabitants were rather residents of Aarschot who had a country farm here. The place was ideal, not far from the Demerbroeken. On the river there was also a unloading and loading area, a so-called 'amer'. The lands further from the Demer were easier to cultivate. And on the mountain there were vineyards until the 16th century.
But in order to fulfill his Sunday church duty, they had to walk a little bit. And this was done via this church road, a typical slow road, no wider than what could be transported with a wheelbarrow.
