House of the Academies

On September 24, 1861 , an art school was founded in Dinant, encompassing music, drawing and architecture. This school was located in a building near the town hall. Their founding date coincides with that of the music band Les Amateurs , suggesting some correlation between the two events.

In 1924 the conservatoire took over the current premises on Rue Saint-Michel .

In 1965 the number of students at the music school had doubled in five years . Since then it has been called the Academy of Music. It should be noted that the Dinant Music Academy was then the only one in the province of Namur to propose candidates for the first three national competitions organized by the Pro Civitate Committee.

The Academy of Music, which also includes the Academy of Fine Arts , has four sections : Florennes - Beauraing - Mont-Godinne and Couvin with a school population of 1,326 students . Three main axes are represented: music, dance and the spoken word . 30 professors teach the courses.
