Description

The Siol, known in fishing circles as the O.225 Norman Kim or Petrus, is the oldest wooden cutter in the Belgian fleet . The ship was built in 1957 at the Loy shipyard in Ostend and was in service until 2005.

Versluys took over the ship, when it sank in Visserijdok in 2014 he had it placed at Hendrik Baelskade in Ostend. The ship stands at the dock as a symbol of Ostend's lost fisheries. The shrimp boat has great emotional and historical value.

Norman Kim's hull was built of wood . The type of boat is called a shrimp fisherman on the Belgian coast and dates from the 19th century Ostend Sloep . This guy didn't have a mirror, but an elliptical hole. A steel storm basin was installed in the bow. The bridge was also built in steel.

Tonnage : 57.18 gross tons and 28.18 net tons.

Engine :

1957: 150 hp Deutz diesel.

1973: 250 hp diesel Poyaud.

1997: 250 hp Scania diesel.

Equipment : The boat is equipped for trawling.
