Palladian Bridge - Chevetogne provincial domain

Realization in 2019: The Palladian Bridge, or "arcades of the fiftieth anniversary".
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Domaine Provincial de Chevetogne has built a new bridge over the second pond (the boat pond). It is a new "folly" in our landscape, which gives rhythm to the PRM walk around the 3 ponds. It is 4 meters high and consists of high columns and triangular pediments. It is in the "Palladian" style (of the Renaissance architect Palladio) and suits the valley in which it is located. Under this bridge, the water from the second pond flows into the pond at the end of the world.
Before construction, the water flowed into a large concrete channel, a deplorable legacy from the 1970s, that did not allow any form of life in its eddies. Today, the bravest can go upstream to the second pond via a fish ladder. This is a series of small waterfalls separated by "resting pools". Now that the water supply and the waterfall have been reduced, the aquatic fauna and flora will gradually be able to recover.

The bridge itself becomes the Rain Interpretation Center, with texts about rain and water, without which our landscapes would be less green and rivers less inspiring. Benches and wheelchair spaces will also be installed, just to take the time to watch the rain fall on the ponds.
