The foundations of this kiosk date from the 19th century and the current superstructure from 1949 .
In 1942 the kiosk burned down, losing thatched roof and woodwork . The brick part remained standing, but postmaster sculptor Hendrik Frederickx managed to rebuild the kiosk in reinforced concrete after the Second World War. Until 1951 partly surrounded by trees.
On the hexagonal kiosk, six winged allegorical figures and as many shields were created with portraits in relief and the names of leading composers of all times affixed to the columns.
The images: Pegasus, running above the sun and the clouds; an eagle, clutching a heron; a dragon , slamming its claw on a witch's head; a swan with water flowers; the devil with the serpent and a sphinx with Peer's coat of arms.
The corresponding shields: Saint Cecilia , playing an organ; Peter Benoit , emblem for Flanders; Beethoven , for all mankind; Verdi, for Italy; Gounod, for France and Orpheus, for Greek Antiquity.
