This is the first of the nine "potales" - chapels - dedicated to the Virgin Mary that cover the pilgrimage route .
This route is the traditional route taken by the residents of Dinant on their pilgrimage to Foy-Notre-Dame.
The Church of Foy-Notre Dame was a very popular place of pilgrimage in the past. Its origins date back to 1609, when a woodcutter found a statue of Mary in a tree he was about to cut down. Numerous miracles were soon attributed to him, especially from 1616 onwards.
