The Rik Wouterstuin is a small urban garden that opened on May 29, 2016. The garden is an ode to Vliet and Rik Wouters.
Rik Wouters (Mechelen, 1882 - Amsterdam, 1916) came from a family of wood sculptors from Mechelen . He quickly swaps out lion heads to make cabinets for "household supplies" and colorful landscapes and portraits. From 1912 he achieved his artistic breakthrough with his paintings and sculptures , in which he played with light and colour.
A small stream has been reopened in the garden: a long pond represents the old course of the stream. Next to the Vliet there is a playground for small children with some small play elements.
At the back of the garden is a place to linger with a sculpture garden featuring replicas of sculptures by Rik Wouters.
