In 1789, the year of the French Revolution, a statue of Our Lady hung against a thick pine tree. Fearing the French violence, the statue was transferred to the church. But legend has it that the next morning it hung against the tree again. The site of the miracle became a place of worship frequented by pilgrims.
The tree chapel was replaced in 1875 by a stone chapel: the Boskapel or Wuytskapel. In the garden of the chapel there are seven iron posts depicting the joys and sorrows of Saint Joseph. Between 1888 and 1904, excavations found remains from Roman times.
