't Eilandje is a green zone that is part of the Vuurtorenwijk, between the Spuikom (Vicognedijk) and the Ostend – Bruges canal.
The filling of this 2.5 hectare neighborhood park was done in consultation with its users: the students of Royal Work IBIS , the scouts 'De Schorre', the sea scouts 2e FOS and the sailing school of the Navy. The oval square is designed as an open-air classroom.
You will find many elements that refer to the sea , such as the large stones that you also see on the breakwaters and breakwaters . Sustainable materials were used. The pavement of the paths is in concrete and shell clay .
't Eilandje is aimed at young people and water sports clubs and offers space to play. But in addition , everyone can enjoy the green space : local residents without a garden, passers-by, cyclists from the Green Ribbon,... Children and young people can romp on the central lawn. The public barbecues and picnic benches can be used freely.
