This memorial at the church commemorates the 13th Lancashire Battalion which fought at Bure from 3 to 5 January 1945.
The monument reads "Win or die".
61 officers and soldiers gave their lives for the liberation of Bure during the Von Rundstedt Offensive.
A separate plaque , inaugurated in 2018, is hung on the church wall in honor of Major Jack Watson . He showed exceptional courage in assembling and reorganizing his dispersed battalion. He did not hesitate to draw machine gun fire upon himself so that his men would be protected. He was holder of the military cross and the Legion of Honor because without him the attack would have failed. He became an honorary citizen of Bure . He died in 2011.
