Jules Ghislain Denis Camus, born in 1850 , studied medicine , probably at the University of Liège.
In Andenne, he became a doctor for various charities from 1876, during the epidemics of smallpox, typhoid, diphtheria and cholera that broke out in the canton of Andenne from 1876 to 1906. Because of his rare devotion to his patients, almost all of them escaped death.
In 1912 he was given the title of mayor . This consecration was short-lived as the German army arrived on August 19, 1914. On August 20, 1914, he lost his life when he was killed by the Germans on his way to the pharmacy. His body was buried in the Cimetière des Fusillés along with many of his compatriots who suffered the same tragic fate.
