In the Joseph Zwaenepoel reserve, the biomass reaches an average of 880 m3/ha, of which 17% is dead wood promoting biodiversity. These figures are close to those of the Slovenian rainforest. Specifically, 47 species of fungi, 257 species of lichens and mosses have been listed here, as well as an impressive number of beetles that find in large trees, decomposing on the ground, living spaces that are suitable for them.
