This is the former seat of the "Heerlijkheid van Daerupt" depending on the Saint Peter's Abbey in Ghent and already mentioned in 1400.
Later this was the mansion of important Ghent families. Around 1925 this was the summer residence of the writer Cyriel Buysse, who died there in 1932. A cartouche reads: "Daerupt, 1752-1919" (possible dates of renovations).
