These remains of a gun turret belong to CS-25 of the PFL1.
PFL stands for Positon Fortifié Liège.
From 1927, a committee was responsible for the reconstruction of the Belgian defense system. It will lead to the rearmament of the old forts of Liège and Namur.
The PFL1 defense line is 60 km long and runs in a circular arc from Comblain-au-Pont to Visé. It includes approximately 179 shelters and three new forts built based on information from the fighting at Verdun.
This is all that is left of bunker CS 25 in Remouchamps.
The bunker is located on the edge of a forest path in the forest. It was once equipped with a dome. The turret came from a Renault tank and was purchased by the Belgian army in France. There were only two of these tank turret bunkers built in the entire PFL.
The bunker consisted of 4 underground rooms . The walls and ceiling of the PFL line bunkers were 1.3 meters thick reinforced concrete . They could withstand shelling with 150mm shells.
Over the years the bunker has become overgrown. The tower has been removed and covered. The escape shaft is still open, but is flooded inside.
