Roger & Zulma Walk: An Ode to Love

Roger Raveel and his lover and muse Zulma De Nijs are a beautiful love story. This walk is an ode to that love and it is no coincidence that it runs between Machelen and Grammene.

This is how Michiel Hendryckx describes it:

Zulma was Roger's neighbor. When the two decided to marry, her parents were reluctant. The still unknown painter was a pauper with whom their child walked in her misfortune. The quarrels were so intense that Zulma went to live with her godmother in neighboring Grammene, where the couple married in 1948. Roger and Zulma would henceforth be mentioned in the same breath. She was his muse, model and manager. She saw to it that Raveel had all the time he needed to live for his art. In 2008 they celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
