Landscape
The Castle Parks consist for the most part of the three former castle domains Vogelzang, Middelheim and Den Brandt. Together they are called the Nachtegalenpark, after the tavern on the corner of Middelheimlaan and Beukenlaan. On the southeastern edge of the park are a number of campuses (a hospital, two university sites and a theological center), which are also part of this landscape. All these functions, together with the sports activities and the museum, ensure that this landscape has a meaning that reaches far beyond the city limits. Nevertheless, it remains primarily a park for the various neighborhoods around it. The landscape is a real 'three-district point': the greenery is located on the territory of Antwerp, but most people around it live in Berchem and Wilrijk.
