Panoramas and cross-country around Bütgenbach

Go to KP 120 at the church in Schoppen (V). Departure to FP 82. At the first fork, choose Zur Schleid on the left. At the crossroads, just after the end of the Spades agglomeration table, keep left, direction KP 95. You cycle on a narrow paved road between meadows and through a forest. At the first crossroads after the forest, you are on KP 95. Turn left towards KP 90. You pass the Bütgenbach agglomeration sign, turn left onto the T and pass the end of the Bütgenbach agglomeration sign.

At the Y-junction, you then choose the right, so almost straight. You climb through a beautiful meadow landscape to the N632. Cross it and pedal further between the meadows. Dive under the former L45a railway (Vennbahn branch), now RAVeL, and descend to the T with KP 90. Turn right onto KP 88. At the fork with a cul-de-sac on the left, stay to the right and from a cross you can start descending. Turn left with the road and ignore the dirt road on the right at the fork. Asphalt turns into pebbles. You pedal between the meadows and get a beautiful view of Nidrum.

At the fork, choose the gravel road on the right with the grass strip in the middle. At the end, follow the paved road on the left. Cross the Warche by the bridge and go up towards Nidrum. When you return to civilization, you will pass the Nidrum agglomeration sign. Ignore a road on the left and continue cycling to the intersection with KP 88. Continue straight, direction KP 87. Go up to Nidrum Church and just before right take Kirchstrasse. Don't worry about side streets, cycle along a modern crucifix and get out of the village.

You pass the end of the Nidrum agglomeration sign and the elsenborn agglomeration sign and reach KP 87. Continue straight onto KP 93. Cross the N647 and continue cycling towards Berg. After crossing the Krommbach, it climbs. Turn right with the paved road and continue cycling towards Berg. Turn left along the road and pass the café-restaurant Landhaus Küpper to the church in Berg with KP 93. Turn left towards KP 99. After school, ignore a street on the right and exit the village between the loose buildings.

At the first fork you keep on the left, you pass the end of the Berg agglomeration sign. At the next crossroads with a beautiful cross, you follow the gravel road diagonally to the right, towards the wind turbines. Enjoy the magnificent view and at the end follow the narrow paved road to the right. Ignore all secondary roads and go down to a crossroads. Go straight up to the next fork and choose the right. You now pass on a narrow asphalt road with grass in the middle. After a turn, you come to a T. Right. Going downstairs you see the church on the right and right in front of you Lake Bütgenbach. At the end of the road you turn left and you have a beautiful view of the lake on the right. Where it becomes a dead end, turn left with the road, towards Wirtzfeld.

You pedal between meadows and a forest strip and then climb to the end of the road. Right. Continue cycling until you can take a road on the right between two hedges. Hiking trail Rund um den See also passes here. You pedal again on a narrow asphalt road with grass in the middle, but you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you pass the sign of the agglomeration of Wirtzfeld, you are immediately back in civilization. Keep a close eye on signage. You exit on another road, follow it to the left and at the five jumps you take the second road to the right. At the end of this road, you are on KP 99 and you have to turn left, direction KP 110.

Plane or bird?

Ignore a street on the left and turn right before Hotel Drosson, direction Büllingen and Rocherath. At the fork, turn right onto direction Büllingen. Cross the Holzwarche and turn left onto the first street. At the crossroads, just after the end of the sign for the Wirtzfeld agglomeration, keep right and continue cycling to the crossroads. Left. Further on, cross the N658 and continue cycling until the next T. Turn left and immediately right into Am Hohen Berg. On the corner is a large model airplane and a Feuervogel panel. A little further, you will pass in front of the Feuervogel Aero & Modellclub, then along a beautiful cross of land to the T.

You are now on KP 110. Turn left onto KP 107. It continues on a slightly wider asphalt road with beautiful views. Ignore, at a cross under the trees, turn left Weiersknepp and pedal further on An den Weiden. After the Mürringen agglomeration sign, turn left onto Auf der Luft. Ignore a street on the left, cross an intersection and continue cycling towards Losheimergraben. Ignore all side streets. Auf der Luft becomes Zur Lehmkaul and then Pannegasse. Then turn right onto Zur Gewandel, still in the direction of Losheimergraben.

Cross the intersection with the cross of the field, keep right at the fork and continue cycling to the next intersection, just before a wind turbine. You are now on KP 107. Turn right onto KP 102. Cross the N632 and continue cycling towards Hünningen. Ignore all secondary roads until you can cycle left towards Honsfeld just after the Hünningen agglomeration sign at the Y-junction. On the T turn left and immediately right, direction Honsfeld. Be careful, as the signage is not immediately clear when you arrive.

Pedal further to the first quadrilateral with a chapel on the right, under the trees. Left. You cross a wider road and pass the end of the Hünningen agglomeration sign. Then you can go down. Cross the Warche and continue following the paved road at the junction with the dirt road at the cross of the field. Dive back under the old railway platform and circle along the Hons feld agglomeration sign to KP 102. Straight ahead, direction KP 98. Turn right at T and turn left at the next fork towards Heppenbach and Büllingen. You pass a modern chapel and turn right at the crossroads. Then take the first street on the left and turn right after the Eifeler Hof, just before the Alte Kirche, also called chapel.

Kick? No need!

You pass the Sankt-Matthiaskirche until you reach KP 98 and continue cycling on the left, towards KP 118. Cross the intersection with the war memorial and cycle along the TSV Honsfeld grounds towards Heppenbach. Ignore all side streets and at the first fork after the end of the Honsfeld conurbation sign, choose left. You pass through an open meadow landscape with beautiful views, ignore the side roads and leave the Hepscheid road on the right. At the junction with the beautiful field cross, you keep left, direction Halenfeld. The road is now narrower, called Zum Hütel and you pedal towards five wind turbines.

Things are getting worse. You do not need to give stairs for a long time and enjoy a beautiful panorama. Past the Halen feld agglomeration sign, you get a beautiful view of Heppenbach on the right. You nod left-right and follow Auf dem Hütel to the end, on KP 118. Turn right onto KP 111. Cross the Amel, don't worry about side streets and pass the Heppenbach church until you can take Lehmkaul on the left at a fork, direction Möderscheid. Continue cycling between the meadows to the N658. Cross it and get off on In den Höfen.

Then it goes up again. At the first fork, keep right and arrive at KP 111 via Zur Morshack. Continue straight onto Brunnenstrasse towards KP 119. It goes down sharply. Be careful, because you are faster on KP 119 than expected. At the end of the road, next to the Sankt-Bartholomäuskapelle, you are there. Turn right onto KP 120. At the fork, keep left. Cross the Möderscheider Bach and continue cycling until you reach a T. Turn right and a little further left and via Am Brunnen back to Spades Church.
