Description by the author

Almost the entire route you have to deal with modern farms, but also with older farm buildings, sometimes with a remnant of clay construction, sometimes dilapidated, sometimes handsomely restored. For this cycle route we use the now famous cycling junctions. A reference to the junctions is therefore sufficient for the route description.

1. Appointment in the center of Kleine Brogel, in the parking lot in front of the entrance of the St. Ursula church in the Burgemeester Voetslaan. Neo-Gothic, built in 1907, but with a 15th-century tower in marl. A sign at the car park refers to junctions 206-207. You have to go to 206. For a while you cycle on the road to Eksel and then drive into the Schansstraat.
2. You cross the road to Eksel again and after some bending also the road to Overpelt (Breugelweg) (206). If necessary, you can first go to Overpelt, up to the Wedelse molen, a protected water mill on the Dommel whose history dates back to the eighth century. The mill can still grind, the mill building is used as a tavern. After this mill you cycle back to 206 and you now keep towards 209. Not so far, as far as the Herenthoek. From there it goes to 205 where you should look out just before when crossing the N478.
3. Junction 205 is a fire tower. You can climb it a few floors high. Always nice, although the view is not so spectacular. Then you continue cycling to junction 507. That's a long way off. You cross the N747 and you cycle under Kaulille. For supplies you can possibly go to the center and back. On the way to 208 you cycle through forest and meadow and past farms, but also past the chapel of Our Lady Virgin of the Poor (actually a camouflaged electricity cabin) and past the large campsite Goolderheide to finally end up in Reppel, a hamlet of Bocholt. At junction 507 follow 208, turn right into Leukenstraat.
4. Just before Reppel and just before the school, take the narrow street on the right. You are now close to junction 208, at a Chapel of Our Lady. The route follows the Monshofstraat to the right, direction 06. You can first turn left, to 'De Watermolen' on the Abeek, now part of a recreation company with camping and fishing ponds. The street name refers to the Monshof, a little further. Part of the Abeek valley is managed by Natuurpunt. This ensures that former hay meadows are now used as hayfields again. At junction 06 (Hoogstraat) turn right, direction 207, not far from the starting point. You pass, among other things, a restored flax root, a pool where flax was rooted long ago. A part of the flax processing in which the fibers come loose from the stem.
5. From the Elvenweg, a whole series of farmers inform you about their farm. Hooves including sheep, beef cows and veal calves. And with accommodation for tourists as an extra. You will also pass the Breugelhof complex, one of the rare stopping places on this tour, which includes a café, restaurant, riding school and bicycle rental. You also drive mainly close to the NATO air base of Kleine Brogel. You are undoubtedly known, among other things, for demonstrations against the nuclear weapons present there and protected by Americans. But of course you had noticed from the start that soldiers disturb the rural peace here.
6. Those who like F16 noise can possibly deviate from the route on the Peer-Kleine Brogel road and drive north to the point where the planes fly low over the road. There is a Spotters Corner with picnic table there. And you can even take pictures there. At junction 207 you cycle further towards 206. On the way you can turn right, towards the center. But you already know that part of the route.
