Along the canals in Kaulille

Appointment at parish church Saint Monulphus and Saint Gondulphus (V) in Kaulille. With the church and the information board about signposted walking routes on your left, take the main street, past GC De Kroon and Nevenplein. Follow this road, out of the village center, to a multi-armed crossroads. Cross over and take a road into the forest next to the Dynamite café/ party room. Follow this wide path (also for riders/ drivers) along a fitness circuit, the stopping place Equidroom 1 and signs of cycling routes and junctions. Enjoy the tranquility, broken only by the fighter jets of Kleine Brogel. Always straight ahead, also at a farm with picnic area (with drinks vending machine!) and with the asphalt road back into the forest. Where the road turns right-left (without yellow triangle) you can also join the cycling routes to Sint-Huibrechts-Lille. Except in the hunting season, however, you follow the field road straight along the edge of the forest, towards growing traffic noise. Just before a wide road you turn left, to a cycle path. This Chain Bridge Road rises to the bridge over the Bocholt-Herentals/Kempisch Kanaal Canal, overlooking the idyllic double towpaths on both sides. Immediately over the bridge you descend a steep path on the left and you choose the grass path on the roadside on the left under the bridge. A little further are fish ponds 2 hidden, with clubhouse / terrace.

Getting lost is not an option along this leisurely towpath route, with barges and pleasure boaters as an attraction. Under the next bridge you bend up to the traffic road. You cross the road and follow the descending path. After the descent take the small path on the right. A little further are parking and access to Domein Lozerheide 3. Cross there again and take the separated cycle path to the left, until the ZuidWillemsvaart. Turn left and cross the footbridge at this place and turn left and immediately right to the church of Lozen and some catering establishments. Then cross over to the Rondestraat and bend along to the wide Zuid-Willemsvaart. To the left onto the roadside, with a double towpath. Continue slowly until you reach the blue drawbridge at lock 18 4. Cross the bridge, turn left at the lock keeper's house and join the road up. Over the wooden bailey bridge - overlooking the confluence of the canal and the canal - turn right to the towpath, along a wide bend in the Kempisch Kanaal. About 1 km before the bridge you have to look left for a bridge in concrete beams (and a pole with the green triangle). So down the roadside and follow the one-man path between a meadow and a barbed wire fenced area. The path widens and you turn right-left, past information signs about the yellow bunting, towards the high-voltage line and towers of Kaulille. Gradually back in civilization you follow the yellow triangle, from the Raekerheideweg to the right in the Raakstraat. The yellow triangles lead to your starting point, but you can also turn a little further left into the Kloterstraat for a few extra kilometers around the village. You walk past houses and meadows, cross the Ringlaan to the T-intersection, then turn left. Turn right in Schuttebergslaan. Cross the Kaulillerweg and take the Donkelstraatje, direction Grote Brogel. This way you come to a busy road towards the village, here on the left on the footpath and a little further cross to a parking lot with Maria chapel and picnic area 5. Now follow the orange triangle of the Winterdijkroute, immediately back in the church of Madonna. Slow roads are beautiful, but often end up on a busy road. This is also the case now and you are forced to follow the N301 to the right. No laughing matter, because there is no cycle path and the roadside is narrow. You walk past a farm and again along the military domain and after 500 m you turn left into the Pottestraat. Now you walk again on a quiet road between fields and meadows. After just over 1 km you cross an intersection. Continue (still in the Pottestraat) and turn left past the first farm into the wide field road. Turn right with the road between the fields and you will end up on another field road. Follow it straight on to civilization. At the first intersection you walk straight ahead and opposite house no. 36 you take a church path on the left. There are several signposted routes along it. At the end of the path you dive into a green tunnel. When you get out, you cross an asphalt road, ignore a street on the left and, opposite house No. 34, turn right into another beautiful church path. At the end, follow Galgestraat to the left. Where it turns right, towards café Te Lande 4, go straight ahead and make a left-right nod. It continues on a rough field road and on the T you turn left towards houses. The field road turns into a wide strip of grass. Cross the street and continue walking along the field road. On the right is the church of Madonna. Every hour five bells play the Lourdes song. Bend with the road to the right and continue until you reach the Klerkenstraat. Turn left and then the first field road on the right. Your wangroen. Take a right past the forest and follow this Winterdijkweg straight ahead. At the T-junction turn right, through residential areas, until just next to a large stone road (with the water tower in the décor). Turn right into the cul-de-sac. Just turn right on the sidewalk and cross to a church road between two fences. This way you end up in the main street again, at the Nevenplein and the church.
