Through Zwinbosjes and the Zoute (derived)

The Zwinduinen and polders form a beautiful nature reserve of over 222 hectares. Here, a cross-border walking network has been developed, which you will largely make use of on this walk. Attention: due to expansion works on the Zwingeul, there may be some inconvenience in the immediate area, but the described walk is fully accessible. The starting point is the parking lot at the nature center, Graaf Leon Lippensdreef 8 in Knokke-Heist. You pay 5 euros to park your car for a full day if you also visit the Zwin! From the Knokke station, you can also get here by bus 12.
Leave the parking lot towards the entrance of the nature center and follow the posts to KP 6 and further to KP 7, where you take the road right towards KP 11. At the first bend in this road, you come to an area where you can roam freely through the dunes. Further on, you have a viewing platform and the statue of the hare, made by the Brit Barry Flanagan in 1990 and installed here in 1997. It is also called Hospitality, but colloquially it is referred to as 't keun. A beautiful view over the Zwingeul and Cadzand.

You now arrive at the paved dike with many benches. Using the stairs, you can step off the dike to look out over the sea from the dune. The walk continues along the dike. One kilometer further, at KP 11, you take the left path to KP 10 (barrier), where you turn sharply right, through a turning gate, towards KP 9. You enter the northern grazing block. Follow the green posts through the dunes. At the next turning gate, cross the gravel road and arrive at KP 9, where you again go through a gate to head towards KP 15. After a beautiful wooded area, you cross the Kleine Vlakte, an area with many grazers. Over a wooden bridge, you enter the meadow area of the Paardenmarktbeek. In 1930, a horse racing track was established here, which was used until 1960. At KP 15, follow Graaf Leon Lippensdreef to the right, towards KP 14. Where the road meets Bronlaan, take the path to the right that turns into a boardwalk.

At KP 14, you take the path to the left, towards KP 4. Cross Zwinlaan and continue through the meadows to Bronlaan. Cross diagonally right and follow Astridlaan. At KP 4, turn left onto Konijnendreef with its luxurious villas, heading towards KP 17. Cross Zoutelaan and continue straight over Blinckaertlaan. Attention: at the beginning of Koningsbos, you briefly leave the walking network and take a narrow path to the left through the forest. You are now on the Zwin walking route, which you will continue to follow through the forest by the signposts. Note: the relatively small forest has quite a few paths.

You arrive at Eikenlaan and cross it to follow the beautiful footpath parallel to the road on the left. Here we rejoin the network. At the next junction, follow KP 5 and take the branch to the left. At Paulusstraat, again turn left until you reach Oosthoekplein after about a hundred meters. Cross the square to the right to KP 5.
