In 1938, a chemist climbed the Piz Buin mountain and got a big sunburn. This trivial event is known to mankind because the guy who got the sunburn was the Austrian chemist Franz Greiter. As a result of this sunburn, he developed the first effective sunscreen. He called it Gletscher Crème. It became the basis for his company he named after the mountain: Piz Buin.
