This church contains the grave of Erasmus, who died here in 1536. First, an grave was excavated and the bones were investigated. They came to the conclusion that Erasmus had syphilis and a deformation of the skull, due to the English Disease. Later on, they discovered a second grave containing an amulet indicating that this was the grave of Erasmus. When a photographer during the excavation tried to take a picture, he dropped his lens on the skull, which broke into pieces.
