Route description

This 25 km mountain bike route gives you the chance to visit the legendary Hôtel Weisshorn and to follow the Planets Trail. The view from on high is worth the trip in itself.
The route departs from the sunny village of St-Luc, situated at an altitude of 1,600 m. The first stage follows a broad forestry track through the «Forêt du Rochet» and the «Forêt des Teppes», before arriving at Tignousa, the top station of the funicular. If you wish, the route can be substantially reduced by taking the funicular.
Close by the funicular station is the François-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory, which regularly organizes observations of the sun and astronomical evenings. From here you follow the Planets Trail, which reproduces the solar system on a reduced scale whereby each step corresponds to a million kilometres. The final few hundred meters lead through beautiful scenery and bring you to the legendary Hôtel Weisshorn in its commanding position overlooking the whole of the Val d'Anniviers.
Itinerary: St-Luc - Forêt du Rochet - Forêt des Teppes - Tignousa - Chalet Blanc - Le Poyou - Le Chiesso - Hôtel Weisshorn - Le Chiesso - Copaté - St-Luc.
The last metres before the hotel are beautiful - this scenery was the film location of the German Series "Capelli Code".
Regular train connections (CFF) to Sierre, then take the postal bus to St-Luc via Vissoie.
Exit the autoroute A9 at Sierre Est. Follow signs to Val d'Anniviers. In the village of Vissoie, turn left and drive up to St-Luc.
There are parkings at the cableways or at the tourist office in St-Luc, follow the local park routeing to access them.
We recommend: bike in excellent working order, helmet, gloves and bell, clothing suitable for the weather (always carry a waterproof), food and drink.
Use marked bike trails and routes only, and observe all signposting. Please close gates after passing through. Please be considerate to walkers and to plants and animals. As a rule, walkers have priority. When planning, take into account participants’ fitness level and ability. All riding is at one’s own risk.
