It lies next to the B 498 federal road and was built 1861 - 1863. In order to make the hotel even more idyllic, the investor had some of the water of the River Romke diverted along a ditch to rocks above the lodge, where it then cascaded down a 64 m (210 ft) descent as the Romkerhall Waterfall (Romkerhaller Wasserfall), making it the highest waterfall in the Harz mountains by some margin. The site is today a restaurant, hotel and popular destination, that is marketed as the Kingdom of Romkerhall. Officially the electricity plant belongs to the municipality of Schulenberg im Oberharz and the inn to Goslar. In the immediate vicinity is the Romkerhalle Hydropower Station (Wasserkraftwerk Romkerhalle), where electricity is generated from water impounded by the Oker Dam.
