The Henrichshütte is a former ironworks in Hattingen and is now operated as a museum.
The Henrichshütte was founded in 1854. It was named after Count Henrich zu Stolberg-Wernigerode (1772–1854) at the suggestion of the first ironworks director Carl Roth. It was one of the most traditional ironworks in the Ruhr area, known for its stainless steel.
Despite changing ownership (1904-1930 Henschel & Sohn, 1930 to 1963 Ruhrstahl, 1963 to 1974 Rheinstahl, from 1974 Thyssen AG, etc.), the name Henrichshütte has always remained. Starting in 1987, the Henrichshütte was shut down (1987 blast furnace 3 and rolling mill, 1993 steelworks, 2003 forge).
