The beautiful walk leads along a large plain between Seelbach, Biesingen and Aßweiler. In keeping with the spirit of the times, the original farmland was expropriated and transformed into a park landscape in the English style.
Count Philipp von der Leyen (1766-1829) created his retreat "for his own personal enjoyment" in the extensive landscape up here on the Seelbacher Höhe. On the large plain between Seelbach, Biesingen and Aßweiler, he designed the "Bagatelle" castle complex consisting of several buildings. The ensemble consisted of the small Bagatelle castle, the Schönbornlust country house - both with luxurious interiors -, a comedy house, servants' quarters and a menagerie.
Today, there are no buildings left and the grounds of the promenade mainly consist of extensive meadows with great views.
