Hiking along winding paths through several ravines with some strenuous ascents and descents is a real natural adventure for sporty hikers. Hollow paths lead through fairytale-like liana forests, along narrow paths and uneven grass and earth paths. There is a museum in the birthplace of the philosopher Peter Wust in Rissenthal.

There are more than ten ravines, also known as ridges, in the forests around Rissenthal. The hike starts at the village square in Rissenthal. A few minutes later, you will experience an extraordinary ravine. A wide variety of root formations have formed over washed-out sandstone rocks of different shades.At an old orchard meadow, you pass a wooden gate. On the descent, the section of path along orchard trees is replaced by a veritable "jungle of lianas."

It is damp in the forest behind the chapel. In the labyrinth of ravines, rocks covered in moss and fallen trees, also coated in moss, lie criss-crossed in the ravines. As soon as one gorge is crossed, another steep ascent through the next gorge begins.

The highlight of the hike is the so-called "Große Grät." The view from the top of the steeply sloping gorge is magnificent. The sun's rays and wind create wonderful shadows on the colorful sandstone rocks. Moss-covered rocks and trees, ferns and ivy complete the picture gallery of the "Große Grät."

The gorge trail has been awarded 87 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.
