The highlight of this half-day tour is the most beautiful view the Saarland has to offer: the view from the Cloef viewpoint over the Saar loop. Since 2016, there has been a treetop path above the Cloef with an impressive 42-metre-high tower. The platform offers unique panoramic views over the landscape of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, the Saar Loop and even as far as France.

The Cloef Atrium is home to the tourist information office, where the tour starts. A few minutes later, the view from the Cloef viewpoint over the Saar Loop. The Saar Loop has been a "National Geotope" since 2006.

At the top of the mountain spur surrounded by the Saar, you can see the partially restored ruins of Montclair Castle on the opposite side. The castle, which was first mentioned in a document in 1168 and is the subject of many legends and stories, was one of the most imposing castle complexes in Germany and was considered impregnable.

The further down you go in the Steinbachtal nature reserve, the wetter and darker the narrow valley becomes. Many rocks and the deadwood are overgrown with thick mosses. Where the sun's rays shine through, various lichens grow on the rock faces. It is breathtakingly quiet in this valley. The path leads directly to the banks of the Saar via a number of steps and wooden footbridges.From the banks of the Saar, you have to climb 200 meters in altitude. The ascent on the steep slope requires surefootedness and a good level of fitness on a narrow path.The trail has been rated by the German Hiking Institute with 92 experience points.</p
