Description by the author

Scenically outstanding, moderately difficult circular tour of approx. 60 km in length and approx. 320 meters in altitude over the beautiful mountain ranges and through the floodplain landscapes of the valleys of the Bliesgau biosphere. The passages on the heights offer fantastic views, even as far as the Vosges mountains on a clear day. The neighboring Palatinate towns of Zweibrücken and Hornbach add to the charm of this "garden-rich" tour.

The four enchanted "gardens with history" that are waiting to be discovered are characteristic of this circular tour. The tour starts at the train station in Blieskastel-Lautzkirchen on the "Adebar Tour" in the direction of Homburg to the neighboring Palatinate town of Zweibrücken with its baroque ensemble in the city center on the Blies. The tour continues to the idyllic little town of Hornbach, where you can take a break at the Hornbach Monastery in glorious weather. The shady beer garden of the hotel restaurant is a great place to "refuel". The "European Mill Cycle Path" leads further into the biosphere to the village of Blieskastel-Altheim, where you will find the Pirminius Garden at the church. The tour continues through the beautiful Bliesgau landscape, criss-crossed by orchards, with a steep climb to Gersheim-Medelsheim and Gersheim. A detour to Gersheim-Reinheim to the European Cultural Park Bliesbrück-Reinheim is a must. This "garden with history" on the French border is one of the largest and best developed in the Bliesgau biosphere. The return route runs via Gersheim without any significant inclines on the Glan-Blies cycle path back to Blieskastel railroad station. A final stop is recommended in Blieskastel, where two more gardens await. One is the Orangerie with its baroque garden on the Schlossberg and the other is the Klosterpark am Wallfahrtskloster Blieskastel on the Klosterberg. Cyclists without an e-bike are best advised to park their bike in the town center and walk up the steep incline to the gardens.
