N2 Von der Neckarburg zum Liebensteiner Schlossberg

Follow the Neckar from Lauffen's Rathausburg through sunny vineyards to the "Krappenfelsen" and on to Liebenstein Castle.

On the Rathausinsel in Lauffen on the Nachtigalleninsel, the castle museum invites you to experience the 11th century live right at the start of the tour or as the crowning finale.

This hike takes you along vineyard paths along the Neckar for long stretches. At the Roman estate, the remains of a former "villa rustica", you can learn more about Roman life in the small open-air museum. A wine tasting is also possible on certain Sundays and public holidays. At the Krappenfelsen viewpoint, the short descent directly to the slope is definitely worthwhile to enjoy the view.

Accompanied by the Württemberg Wine Trail, Liebenstein Castle is more or less the turning point for this hike. A small circular trail is signposted in the castle grounds and the keep can be accessed at any time as a viewing tower.

A tip for church and art lovers: the door to the Renaissance chapel is usually locked, but it is worth asking for the key at the hotel and experiencing the special atmosphere of the chapel inside.
