Description

The hiking trail runs from Weißenfels through the most beautiful section of the Saale valley, crosses the Blütengrund near Naumburg with its uniquely beautiful terraced vineyards and sandstone vineyard houses, and leaves the Saale valley at Bad Sulza after visiting Rudelsburg and Burg Saaleck. From Auerstedt, you can soon see Eckartsburg. Along the ridge of the Finne, the trail continues through wonderful forest areas to Rastenberg via Marienthal with a castle. From Rastenberg, the trail mostly follows the south side of the Finne along the edge of the forest, offering great views of the plain. Starting from Burgwenden, the trail leads through beautiful deciduous forests directly on the ridge with views to the north and south, reaching the breakthrough valley of the Unstrut in Sachsenburg - the hiking destination and starting point of the Hainleitewanderweg.

Route description

Paved and natural paths lead through the Saale valley, past castles and palaces, the ridges of the Finne and Schrecke with interesting viewpoints, old beech forests, and historically significant sites of the Napoleonic battles.

Weißenfels - Leißling - Schönburg - Bad Kösen - Bad Sulza - Auerstedt - Eckartsberga - Marienthal - Rastenberg - Schafau - Burgwenden - Sachsenburg near Heldrungen.
