Enjoy hiking on the ninth stage of the Remstal Trail from Lorch to Miedelsbach. This stage takes you through romantic valleys, across fields and meadows and past geological sights.
You start in Lorch or at the Götzenmühle mill, cross the dam between the two ponds and enter the Pfahlbronn Forest. You now walk directly along the still clearly recognizable wall of the Upper German Limes, while the ditch, which is still impressively visible in places, runs through the forest to the right of the magnificent path. After walking for a while, you leave the Limes and turn left along the Fuchsklinge until you come to the Aimersbach, which you cross and along which you walk downhill for a while. Then turn uphill again and walk in an arc towards the Walkersbach valley. The water of the Walkersbach, which was used to raft timber in the 16th century, has its source below the Gläserfeld near Breitenfürst, where it immediately picks up the Schautenbach and Kühnenbach streams before flowing into the Rems below Weitmars. At Edenhof you briefly reach the road, which you immediately leave again in a north-westerly direction. From there you can already see a small bridge over the Walkersbach. From here, the route takes you across meadows up to Weitmars, which you cross to reach the forest again.
Continue across meadows and fields towards the forest. Here you have a good view of the Rems valley and the Plüderhäuser bathing lake, which offers excellent water quality even during long periods of heat due to the strong groundwater springs.
When you leave the forest in the direction of Plüderhausen and the RemstalWeg turns right along the edge of the forest, you have the option of visiting the forest playground with barbecue facilities straight ahead. Otherwise, you will pass the sports field and the "wedding meadow", where newlyweds can plant their wedding tree.
Shortly after leaving Plüderhausen, you will find yourself in the municipality of Urbach, one of the model orchard communities in the Rems-Murr district. Urbach and its 500-year-old Afrakirche church lie idyllically below you in the valley, along the north-eastern slopes of which runs the RemstalWeg trail.Past the romantic Bärenbachtal valley, where you can delight your children in particular with a visit to the forest adventure trail, the panoramic trail leads up to the Gänsberg with its magnificent views!
Further on, you will come across the impressive landslide at Kirchsteig, which became Urbach's landmark in 2001 when the ground sank up to 17 meters deep over a length of 240 meters. The landslide circular trail, which is equipped with information boards, is well worth a detour.About halfway up, you will finally reach the Wellingshof farm, where you first take a sharp right along the edge of the forest. The path continues through extensive orchards into the Wieslauftal valley to Miedelsbach, a district of the Daimler town of Schorndorf. If you have enough time, you can take the "Wiesel" or the Swabian Forest Railway from the local train station to Schorndorf or Welzheim, otherwise you will pass through Miedelsbach in the direction of Metzlinsweiler Mühle.
