"3-Valley Tour" from the Schozach Valley via the Neckar into the Bottwar Valley.
Wide hilly landscapes, castles and the famous Katzenbeisser steep slopes line the route.
This stage leads through the picturesque Schozachtal valley. The Rieslings grown here are said to have been enjoyed by the Queen of England.
Wide hilly landscapes, castles, forests, meadows and vineyards line the route. The Württemberg Wine Trail shows off the diversity of the landscape along the Neckar and Schozach rivers.
In an undulating course, stretches over heights alternate with flat sections in the water valleys. However, no special fitness level is required for these ascents and descents. The gentle climbs are mostly on slopes along vineyard paths. The banks of the Neckar are a great place to relax and forget the time during a short break. The Württemberg Wine Trail initially leads from Talheim along the Schozach and then turns right towards the Neckar. In the middle of the vineyards near Lauffen lies a Roman estate (villa rustica), which is not only a window into history but also an excellent resting place with a view. The restored foundation walls of four buildings provide an interesting insight into the way of life on a Roman agricultural estate. The Lauffen winegrowers run a wine bar at the villa rustica on a few weekends a year.
The path continues along the Neckar to the Krappenfelsen rock with a uniquely beautiful view of the Neckar
At Neckarwestheim, the hiker reaches Liebenstein Castle - today a castle hotel and restaurant as well as the home of Baden-Württemberg wines. The Renaissance chapel in the castle grounds is a real highlight and a popular wedding location. From the accessible keep, the view sweeps far over the Neckar valley. The castle tavern terrace in the inner courtyard invites you to linger in comfort on summer days.
Through the Northern Neckar Basin bird sanctuary in the Stubenwald forest, you reach your stage destination in Beilstein.
Timbered houses and wine under the protection of Hohenbeilstein Castle - this is how Beilstein can be described in a nutshell. Hohenbeilstein Castle towers high above the charming half-timbered streets of the wine village. The castle restaurant with beer and wine garden is a lovely rest stop for hikers. Flight demonstrations by the Hohenbeilstein castle falconry take place regularly in the castle courtyard. And directly below the castle, hikers will find a small but lovely wine trail.
