Description by the author

A unique literary and scenic hiking experience for nature and culture lovers in Hohenlohe, an idyllic and economically strong connoisseur region in the north-east of Baden-Württemberg.

The entertaining hiking trail (17 km) leads from Künzelsau via Stetten Castle to Langenburg or in the opposite direction. A beautiful bouquet of memories penned by Hermann Lenz accompanies hikers along the way.
Hermann Lenz would have said: "Not bad!" Hermann Lenz (1913 - 1998), important German writer (G. Büchner Prize 1978; R. Würth Prize for European Literature 1997 and others)

Childhood in Künzelsau: Hermann Lenz grew up in Künzelsau until the age of 11, where his father was a drawing teacher at the castle grammar school. He spent the rest of his youth and school years in Stuttgart. Writing: One of the leading figures in German-language post-war literature. After studying (from 1933) in Tübingen, Heidelberg and Munich, he wrote his first works (poems, "Das Stille Haus"). In addition to his student years, military service and imprisonment left their mark on Lenz as a person and on his literary works. At the center of his literary oeuvre is a multi-volume autobiographical novel cycle about the alter-ego figure Eugen Rapp, which begins with "Verlassene Zimmer" (1966), in which life as a child in Künzelsau plays a central role. In the volume "Zwei Frauen", Lenz devotes himself to the landscape around Langenburg. Almost without parallel in German-language literature after 1945, this series of Lenz novels explores essential autobiographical incisions and at the same time captures the political history of Germany in the 20th century. Together with the trilogy "Der innere Bezirk", Hermann Lenz became one of the leading figures of German-language post-war literature.
