The historic Sofazügle now only runs on certain days. Regular services between Nürtingen and Neuffen are now provided by modern railcars. The Erms Valley Railway resumed operations in 1999 after a 23-year break. Ideal conditions for gentle tourism on the Albtrauf, without a car!
Special tips for the hike include the half-timbered town of Bad Urach with the residential palace and the town's AlbThermen, the Urach and Güterstein waterfalls and the Hohenurach castle ruins with fantastic views of Bad Urach and the surrounding area.
The ascent through the half-timbered town of Neuffen and the Neuffen valley vineyards is steep, but rewards you with ever-widening views. Above the vineyards is the flower paradise of the Neuffen Heath. The blue triangle leads us steeply through the beech forest up to Hohenneuffen. Here we change to the HW 1. The tip of the red triangle points the way along the Albtraufuf: at the Hölllöchern you can visualize the falling of the rock floes. The distant view from the rock pinnacles extends over the Alb foreland and Stuttgart to the Stromberg, but also modern art in the form of spectacles and geo/biotopes such as the Molach volcanic chimney or the Celtic moat make the hike to the half-timbered idyll of Bad Urach a real adventure and pleasure tour!
