Hornbach Runde

The beautiful meadows and forests around Altheim in the Bliesgau biosphere and Hornbach in the Zweibrücken region are perfect for hiking. The trail leads over the gentle ridges of the Southwest Palatinate, characterized by wooded areas, flowering meadows and fields with magnificent views as far as the Vosges and the Lorraine plateau.

The Hornbach loop leads along forest paths through the Bliesgau biosphere reserve and the neighbouring Zweibrücker Land region. Along the way, there are wonderful views of the villages in the Saarland "Parr". From the hill above Brenschelbach, you can see as far as the Vosges mountains and the Lorraine plateau. We follow the ridge to the edge of the forest and reach the Becherbacher Weiher pond via the forest path. A rest area invites you to linger at this idyllic spot. The trail continues uphill to the Gimpelwaldhütte and Hornbach. The trail leads up to the edge of the Burgerhöhe forest, from where there is a wonderful view of the monastery town of Hornbach.A big plus of the trail is the beautiful course over the hilly meadow landscape with great views of the panorama of the Bliesgau and Zweibrücker Land.
