On this tour through the Eppingen Forest, you can enjoy wonderful views and discover exciting sights such as the 7 Brothers, the boundary stone path and much more.from the starting point of Villa Waldeck at the hiking parking lot, you first head towards the Eppingen Line. This was built in 1695/97 by "Türkenlouis" Margrave Wilhelm von Baden for protection against the French. Next, the path leads to the Himmelsleiter. This is a climb in the Eppingen forest with 202 steps, starting from the Philosophenweg and ending at the Baumannshütte. A beautiful vantage point along the way is the Kraichgaublick. Here you have a good view of Eppingen and deep into the Kraichgau. The Steinsberg is clearly visible on the right. The Odenwald in the background.
Away from the hike, you can admire the Ottlienberg. A detour is definitely worthwhile. It is Eppingen's local mountain, 310 m high. For generations of Eppingen residents, the mountain has been a popular destination for a Sunday outing. The Birnbaumallee is also worth seeing along the way. Old boundary stones, some of which were broken and destroyed, have been salvaged from the forest and restored and now stand in rows along the Birnbaumallee.
Past the boundary stone path and the Kopfrainhütte hut, the trail leads to the 7 Brothers. It is a rare seven-trunked maple tree. If you continue from there, you will pass the Bohlenpfad. This is located slightly off the hiking trail. But it is particularly worth a detour in spring when the wild garlic is in bloom. It is located at the tributary of the Jägersee and forms the charming end of the Waldfühlpfad. It allows you to walk through this marshy area.
The wild garlic grows in numerous sunny spots in the Eppingen forest. Every year in April or May, when the wild garlic is ripe, the wild garlic festival is celebrated on Eppingen's market square.
Further along the hiking trail, you will pass the Jägersee lake. It is surrounded by forest and lies at the foot of the Ottilienberg. Shortly before the hike ends, you have another beautiful view of Eppingen. Villa Waldeck marks the end of the hike, where you can stop for a bite to eat at the end.
