Sauerland-Höhenflug - Zuweg aus der Korbacher Altstadt

Korbach impresses with its well-preserved old town with many half-timbered buildings, two Gothic hall churches and stone warehouses from the Hanseatic period. Worth seeing are St. Kilian's Church with its south portal full of figures, the late Gothic St. Nikolai Church and the award-winning Wolfgang Bonhage MUSEUM KORBACH. Or start an expedition into the history of the earth at the important fossil site "Korbacher Spalte", when Korbach was still close to the equator and the oldest ancestors of mammals and dinosaurs populated the earth.

The black-marked access path takes you through the old town and later through meadows and fields to the Eisenberg. The Eisenberg, with the Goldhausen visitor mine, the castle ruins and the Georg Viktor lookout tower with its fantastic panoramic views, is the eastern starting point of the Sauerland High Altitude Trail. The long-distance hiking trail, which is over 250 kilometers long, begins or ends here.
