Every child knows the story of Snow White, who flees over the seven mountains to the seven dwarves. What not everyone knows, however, is that Snow White came from Lohr a.Main and fled over the seven Spessart mountains to Biebergemünd to the local (dwarf) miners in Bieber. The Snow White Trail follows in her footsteps, as in the 18th century Maria Sophia Margarethe von Erthal lived in Lohr Castle with her wicked and envious stepmother. In the castle, which today houses the Spessart Museum, you can still see the mirror from which the stepmother heard the fateful words that she was not the fairest of them all. The fairest had long since fled, and the Snow White Trail traces her escape route. It runs along forest roads and forest paths through dense mixed deciduous forests and leads from the castle in Lohr a. Main first to Partenstein. The trail continues past Frammersbach, an idyllic Spessart village that is well worth an overnight stay, with cultural and natural treasures to admire along the way: The Valentinus Chapel in Lohr and the Heiligkreuz Chapel above Fram-mersbach, the mystical Wiesbütt Moor, the Lochmühle and the solitary Mauritius Chapel from the 11th century. In and around Bieber, boards provide information about the eventful history of mining, which was first mentioned in 1494. Silver, copper, lead, iron and cobalt were mined here, for which particularly short people were needed in the narrow tunnels. The Bieber dwarves who took Snow White in so kindly ...
