Flörsbach - Flörsbachtal 3

The history of the Flösbach cultural landscape is characterized by its location on borders - between Mainz and Hanau - and its location on old trade routes - on Birkenhainer Straße and Eselsweg.

Humans have left traces here for thousands of years, covered by the forest, which can be seen again today.

Way description:

From the starting point at the fountain on the main road in Flörsbach, you walk north out of the settlement and enter the forest with its rich oak population. The processing of oak bark, which was used to make a tanning agent for leather production, was a lucrative business in the 19th century.

As you continue your hike, you pass the spot where a historic boundary stone, the "Dreimärker", used to stand. Unfortunately, it was stolen a few years ago; a great loss for the documentation of cultural history. Today, a replica stands here.

After passing the Wiesbütt, you come across the Judenbörnchen, one of many wells used by Jewish cattle traders in the Spessart for their cattle.

The hiking trail ends back in Flörsbach.
