Follow the bat...
A cyclist in front of the sketched silhouette of the bat tunnel - the 689 m long highlight of the SauerlandRadrings shapes the logo and route signs of the slightly hilly circular tour through the Sauerland region. The section from Schmallenberg to the bat tunnel mostly runs on a former railway embankment. These historical roots are evident in various relics along the route. The short version (54km) of the SauerlandRadrings branches off in Kückelheim from the main route and then swings back over the gentle hills of the Schmallenberg Hawerland to the "Stocking City" of Schmallenberg.
Note: The bat tunnel is closed from November to April and is entirely dedicated to the bats that hibernate there. During this time, the signposted, slightly more challenging winter detour is in effect.
