This gravel tour from Besigheim is a real adventure that takes you through picturesque vineyards, over crisp climbs and to breathtaking panoramic views, with opportunities for local treats such as fruit from the Kirchheim fruit hall.
It's a route that combines gravel and pleasure, perfectly rounded off with steep-slope wine views and the opportunity to explore the half-timbered architecture of Besigheim after completing the tour.
Do you feel that too!
Grab sun-ripened, crunchy apples and berries at the Obsthalle in Kirchheim and enjoy them right next to the wine terrace around the corner. From here, you have a breathtaking view over the terraced steep slopes and the Kirchheim Neckar loop.
This route is like a fine drop of wine from the region: unique and full of character. Vineyards in steep slopes on the Neckar? Check! Panoramic views with two of the best wine views in BW across the country? Of course! A few crisp climbs in the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park with its deluxe gravel paths? Bring them here! And local fruit and produce in the Kirchheim fruit hall? The cherry on top of the cream!
Fasten your helmet, because the ride starts in Besigheim! After a few turns of the pedals, you'll feel the real gravel feeling on a gravel double track between the vineyards. You know it's going to be adventurous today! Now, from Löchgau out of the comfort zone! You cruise through the fields to the first challenge. The ramp to the Weinkanzel tests your leg muscles, but at the top you are rewarded with a view that takes your breath away. One view is not enough for you? Well, then off to the gravel paths and up to the Löchgau mountain hut. The next panoramic view and your first pass beckon: the Hohe Reute at 380 m. Stop briefly, take a pass selfie and add it to the wall of fame before you continue. Above Freudental, the route leads through the vineyards into the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, always with a view. In the shade, on the gravel roads, you can step on the gas or roll comfortably, just as the mood takes you.
After a speedy descent, we recommend the wine bar behind the Michaelsberg. Or sprint up to the next wine viewpoint with a great view of Heuchelberg and the hills to the north. Now you can rest your legs as you descend rapidly towards Botenheim and via Meimsheim to Lauffen. In Lauffen, you explore the former Neckar loop and climb it to the Kirchheim fruit hall. Here you can enjoy refreshments for the final section. Regional products from the region for dinner? Or even better, fill your bike bag with fresh berries, crunchy apples and a cool cold drink and roll the few hundred meters further to the Kirchheim wine terrace for a little hill break! Snap the perfect photo with the Neckar in the background. There's even a wine bar here on Sundays! Head south along the Neckar to the highlight: high above Besigheim for a great view of the medieval architecture. Back to the starting point? Sure, but take a stroll through the pretty town. Who knows, you might discover a cute café or a charming wine cellar ;)
This route combines everything a gravel biker's heart desires: challenges, views, enjoyment and adventure. So, what are you waiting for? Saddle up your bike and off you go!
