This gravel tour starts in Bietigheim and offers a mixture of gravel roads, panoramic views over the Neckar, an exploration of the Hessigheim rock gardens and a hill stop at the Besigheim rock garden winery.
It is a versatile route that combines scenic highlights, history and the taste of fine wine, ideal for any gravel bike enthusiast.
You can taste it too!
After a short, crisp tour through the idyllic Neckar valley, past the steep vineyards of Mundelsheim and Hessigheim, you can enjoy the exquisite Felsengarten wines at the Felsengartenkellerei winery in Hessigheim.
Are you ready for an adventure with a focus on "high up"? This tour brings you gravel tracks, lonely country lanes, easy, flowing single tracks, great panoramas over the Neckar and, as the icing on the cake, the famous Hessigheim rock gardens and fine wines from the Felsengartenkellerei wine cellar.Let's go in Bietigheim. Grab a coffee on the market square and soak up the local vibe before jetting out of the city. Through the Bietigheim city forest on gravel roads, you ride across the fields, where you can catch your first glimpse of Ludwigsburg. In Kleiningersheim, there's a highlight of the tour - the panorama over the Neckar plus a great route through the vineyards. Photo time, baby!
Now you cruise down to the Neckar and cross it, only to accelerate again on a dirt track that leads you to a gravel descent. Fancy a short, crisp climb? Past the excavation of the gravel works (open-cast mining feeling!), you reach a panoramic point with a view of the Neckar valley and Mundelsheim. Then you ride along idyllic gravel paths to the vineyards above Mundelsheim. The motto here is: slow down and get your camera out, because the photo opportunities are deluxe!
Continue to the Hessigheim rock gardens. Explore these extraordinary rock formations on foot on a short circular route. 15 minutes, that's all you need! Afterwards: Hill break in the "Felsengartenkellerei Besigheim" winery. Drinks, food, cozy corners - what more could you want? You can hang your gravel bike in the new bike rack during the break. Rested? Good, now a short sprint across the Neckar and a steep climb through the Schreber Gardens to the Neckarhalde. There, surprise, surprise, a view of the Neckar, Hessigheim, and yes, over there on the other side, that's the path you just took!
Now for the gravel ... through the forest to the Bietigheim city forest on a flowing single track. Stop at the Fürstenstand for a view of Bietigheim and the Enz valley. Then back to Bietigheim, and if you feel like it, explore the old bunkers in the forest.
This tour is like an all-you-can-eat buffet for gravel bike fans: variety, views, a touch of history and a sip of fine wine. Simply a pleasure! So, what are you waiting for? Grab your bike and off you go!
