Through the Eifel landscape

The tour leads once around the Monschau region, which is why there are also some altitude meters to overcome on the good 50 kilometers, that much in advance. The effort is rewarded, however, by beautiful high-altitude paths, dense green forests, and a great nature experience. The landscape is characterized by the picturesque Rursee located in the middle of the Eifel National Park and the idyllic Rur valley. Also typical of the landscape are the impressive, meter-high house hedges within the settlements, which were built as wind protection for the individual farms, as well as a pronounced field hedge system. The former cloth-making town of Monschau is ideal for a first break after almost 20 kilometers and impresses with a magnificent half-timbered idyll that is second to none. After a stroll through the historic old town, you drive on the former railway line of the Vennbahn to Lammersdorf, where you can gain insight into the way of life of the Eifel ancestors as part of a visit to the farm museum. The tour finally leads back to the Eifel Lake Plateau via Rollesbroich, Strauch, and Steckenborn, where the idyllic Eifel village of Woffelsbach awaits with a wide range of water sports activities. In Rurberg, a visit to the National Park Gate is worthwhile, which informs about the unique natural landscape of the Eifel National Park, before returning to the starting point in Einruhr. There you can end the day with a leisurely boat tour.
