The 41 km long circular tour is best driven in a clockwise direction, as this way the highest point is reached right at the beginning. Before reaching Sasendorf, you will come across the "Lohn", an isolated forest area. Shortly after the waterworks, there is an access point and a few steps further, an information board. A short walk through the historic forest site with the old beech trees is refreshing. After that, follow the small road around the "Lohn" to Tätendorf-Eppensen. Shortly before, you reach the highest point of the tour at 96 meters. If you feel like taking a break now, treat yourself to a detour to the fruit barn with regional delicacies. Then continue to Klein Bünstorf with its heathland. In summer, it is especially beautiful when it blooms in a shining lilac color. Interesting at any time of year: 59 burial mounds from the older Bronze Age (1700 to 1000 BC), preserved under the forest and heathland. After a detour and crossing the Elbe side canal, Jastorf comes into view. At Jastorfer See, you can observe the lake and waterfowl from an observation tower - preferably with binoculars. The tour continues to the round village of Oetzendorf. Accessible via the road to Masendorf, about 500 meters south lie some ponds - the spawning ground of the largest crested newt population in Northern Germany and a breeding ground for cranes. An information board will guide you there. Between Testorf and Himbergen, the bird sanctuary "Ostheide" extends. Here, the woodlark and ortolan are protected. At the junction to Kollendorf, there is an information board about the bird sanctuary, and in Kollendorf itself, a "hotel for animals" built by NABU Uelzen from a transformer tower. Next stop: Himbergen, on the edge of the Göhrde, a huge forest area and former royal hunting ground of the House of Hanover. Then you reach Rohrstorf. Here too, there is a former transformer tower with nesting boxes and information boards. Around Rohrstorf, there is a protected area with small waters, the habitat of the rare fire-bellied toad. On the way to Strothe, to the left is the Almstorfer Moor nature reserve, an uncultivated peat bog remnant, characterized by swamp forest and water-filled former peat pits. The tour leads back to Bad Bevensen via Römstedt and the Elbe side canal. Here, you can relax and reflect on the nature experiences at the Jod-Sole-Therme.
