GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken

The "GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken" presented here is, as the name already suggests, an element of the larger "GeoTour Paderborner Land" (www.geotour-paderborner-land.de). The latter is a special type of geocaching: Under the motto "Hiking and Searching at Springs," it connects not only all ten cities and municipalities in the district of Paderborn, but also the hobbies of geocaching and hiking. In line with the goal of a GeoTour to present an entire region, it was created in a truly unique collaboration between regional tourism experts and experienced geocachers. It consists of a total of ten individual hikes, ranging from seven to fourteen kilometers in length - each city or municipality in the Paderborn region has one. There are a total of 75 geocaches hidden in them.
The "GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken" is an approximately eight-kilometer circular route, which includes a short urban section but mainly runs through beautiful nature. In total, there are six geocaches to be found on the Altenbeken tour.
The tour starts at a parking lot, which you can also easily reach by public transport. From there, it initially passes through the urban part, where you will discover street names that remind you of the long hut tradition and the railway industry in Altenbeken. The route continues over field and forest paths, where you can enjoy great views of Altenbeken's natural heritage along the way. At one point, the award-winning Viadukt Wanderweg and the GeoTour Altenbeken run parallel to each other. The last loop of the circular hiking trail passes by one of the most famous points in Altenbeken. If you have found all the caches, why not reward yourself with a hearty meal.
