Food Light Festival 2023

As soon as the sun sets earlier again, it's time to brighten up the evenings with dreamlike beautiful light art. The Essen Light Festival is exactly the right place for this, not for nothing it is one of the top ten light art festivals in Europe. So get off the couch and head to the city center of Essen. This year you can expect a compact festival, with 17 venues between the main train station and Pferdemarkt. Follow the WAZ route and discover spectacular video mappings, impressive light installations, gamings, and light shows along a route of just under two kilometers. Visit the Man in the Moon, dance with the Wish Tree, or get a blessing of light at the Market Church or the Cathedral. Witness the transformation in the city center at Königshof and playfully learn to save water at Kardinal-Hengsbach-Platz.
