You can get an idea of the forces at work during an ice age on a hike to the remains of the Erratic Block, one of the largest glacial erratics in Europe. During the last glacial period, a massive dolomite block from the mountain massif of the Three Sisters (Liechtenstein) crashed onto the Rhine Glacier. The giant boulder traveled 65 kilometers on its back before it was deposited near Weiler about 12,000 to 15,000 years ago when the glacier melted. Originally, the „erratic block“ had enormous dimensions with a volume of 3,000 to 4,000 cubic meters. Today, however, only remnants of the giant boulder remain. The extensive wet meadows in Stockerbü are also worth seeing on this family-friendly circular hike.
